Comment on Zoe Cox's Blog on Child Obesity

I definately agree with Zoe here about it being the parents fault that their children are obsese. Granted, people have busier lifestyles than they used to so setting time to make a healthy meal can be difficult however this is no excuse to just plonk a microwave meal in front of their child and as Zoe says, expect that they are just making their child happy! They are 'essentially killing them' and it isnt difficult to rustle up a salad now and again! A child needs to know the difference between healthy and unhealthy and a balanced diet should be forced upon every child. However we know this is never the case anymore. The advantages of junk food accessibility and convenience is taking over people's diets.

When children mither and mither for this that and the other and a parent knows that it is bad for them they should try and say no! By saying no may upset the child but it will also eventually help them learn the difference between yes and no and also the difference between healthy and unhealthy. I'm not saying that a treat here and there is not allowed but when a parent is conveniently and constantly feeding their children 'rubbish' is not a good thing at all! And I also agree with Zoe when she discusses the fact that when they grow up they will experience problems, because they will! There are constantly documentaries on the television about children who are severly obese and all the problems they now face, and unfortunately it is getting to the point where people no longer feel sorry for them but think it is their parents fault for feeding them so badly.
